The vigorous and characteristic hilly region round the river Doux gorges can be seen from many viewing points. The low Doux Valley and its main tributaries ; the Duzon and the Daronne rivers cut through the high plateau. The latter, with its remarkable regularity stretching from the west of Lyon to the south of the Doux valley is qualified as being the Rhodanien plains. Its altitude varies from 350 to 400m. Its widest section is in the Doux gorges (about 15km) stretching between the river Rhône and the Vivarais hillsides.
